Bruce J. Hunt is an associate professor in the Department of History, University of Texas at Austin, where he specializes in the history of science and technology. He is the author of The Maxwellians (1991) and Pursuing Power and Light: Technology and Physics from James Watt to Albert Einstein (2011). His current research focuses on how the telegraph cable industry affected work in electrical physics in Victorian Britain. His book on the subject, Imperial Science: Cable Telegraphy and Electrical Physics in the Victorian British Empire, is due out next year from Cambridge University Press.
